Meet Tavi Gevinson. This talented young women started her blog, Style Rookie, when she was eleven years old. Millions flocked to her website to see her outlandish outfits, and read her writing imbued with a strong sense of originally. At sixteen, Tavi launched an online magazine aimed at teenage girls called Rookie. Rookie has gained worldwide attention for its refusal to treat teenage girls as anything other than real people. Tavi has published two Rookie Yearbooks where one can access the best writing, photography and illustration from the website in book form. Indigo chatted with Tavi about respecting the teenage voice, art and writing as an exercise in empathy and the lessons learned from 90’s pop culture.
